Can you write in 1st person when writing a critical lens essay?

I have to write a critical lens essay, which is an essay where you agree or disagree with a quote. I cannot remember if you are supposed to say “I” when writing this type of essay, (since it is your own opinion,) or if you are supposed to only state the quote as true or untrue.

    No you cant write the critical lens in first person. You can start the sentence “This quote can be verified/proven true by the….”
