I am intererested in being a print model?

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

I have no professional pics. I was told to submit 2 pictures online to an agency. If they are interested, what will happen next? How do I build a portfolio? Will I have to pay?

What are good buildings for middle school students to make simple models of to teach proportion and ratio? tnx

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

I am thinking of the United Nations building in NYC and the Elephant building in Bangkok (that is where I teach). These are blocky and easy for the students to build models. It would be great if I could have suggestions for major buildings in other English speaking countries.

How Do You Build a Bird Model Accurate to Scale?

Friday, August 21st, 2009

I have to build a model of a bird, specifically the Western Tanager. The model must be in flight, accurate to wingspan (11.5in) accurate to length (about 6-7in) and must have an attachment in order to hang from a ceiling. I know, what does this project have anything to do with preparing for an AP Environmental test? I don’t know where to start on this project. It can’t be made out of clay because it must be light weight. And if I was going to start with a wire mesh or papier mache, then how would I begin sculpting it to an accurate model? Thanks in advance!

Has anyone bought a model (inventory) home before?

Monday, August 17th, 2009

We have built homes before, but have never bought one of the builders models. If you have made the purchase before, are builders inclined to reduce their prices even more than the “list” price? Do they ever negotiate the sale of the furniture in the house? A home we are looking at has been discounted $100k, so obviously we are wondering how BADLY they want to unload it. Thoughts?

How are premanufactured homes made?

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Well, I’ve actually got a few questions here. First off, when a new housing developement goes up, they work on building houses and you can go look and they have say 7 different models that they’re building. Do they just have plans to build those homes and ship the wood there and build onsite, or do they have pieces built in factories and then shipped to the site where they just put the pieces together?
How about prefab homes, do they basically have a factory where workers build it basically assembly line style? Do machines do most of the work? Then they ship the whole whome on a truck?
I’m mainly interested in new housing developements such as the ones that you see going up where they have a sign “Selling now from the low 300s” or something like that. Then when you stop in the office they have floor plans for different models. Are those models built wholely onsite, or somewhat in factories? Is any of it done by machine’s?
Examples of specific companies would be great

Why do production model automobiles never look as good as the concept models?

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

You people at Generous Motors and Ford Motor Company have a bad habit of showing us your beautiful concept designs that everyone including myself drool over and then tell us that this is what a certain vehicle you will be building will look like but, LOW AND BEHOLD!!! …..when it comes out as the production model it looks not quite or nothing at all like the concept. WHY DOES THAT ALWAYS HAPPEN???…(lets use one of the many examples: the Pontiac G6 for example….only the front grill looks like the concept) Hey! you built that concept the way it looks there, so build about 300,000 more of those identically!!!! whats wrong with that??? Im sick of being disappointed when the actual production model comes out….. This happens every year!!!Chrysler has a better record of putting cars on the road as they looked as when they were concepts. Why cant GM and FORD do the same??? Will someone please explain this strange phenomenon. I NEED TO KNOW !!!
