Knitting to cover up my cast?

I’m trying to make the Sassy Snuggle Suit and am stuck on the directions for making the back.

BELLY : … In Row (RS0: K1, M1, knit to last st, M1, K1 [8 sts] Place these stitches on holder. (I’m ok up to this point).
Here’s where I’m stuck: BACK - With WS facing, purl 1 row… The yarn from the belly section isn’t the yarn I should be using to work on the back, but it doesn’t say to join new yarn. How can I start working on the back - do you think it’s just a pattern error? A few rows from this point it specifically says join new yarn and work back and forth with separate balls of yarn, which makes sense. It’s just how to start working on this section (BACK) that has me stuck!
It is worked as one piece. The belly piece is only 14 sts and is on a st holder. The back piece is 38 sts, using the yarn from the belly piece doesn’t seem right to me because it’s a different amount of sts and also would join the pieces, and it’s too soon for that.

i want to use a circular needle to knit a baby hat…
the one I currently own is around 45cm long…. are there others on the market that are shorter in length.. or is it possible to knit this hat on a long circular…

I knitted alot a couple of days ago and the next day when I went to school my finger was twitching unconrolably on and off for three days now. Could it be from knitting with it to much?

I am knitting a felted purse, need help picking up stitches?

The pattern says to make the base first using circular needles and then pick up 8 stitches on short side and 30 on the long and the 8 on the other short side. However I can not remember how to pick up the stitches. Please help. This is a christmas present and I am in danger of not being able to complete it.
