Embroidery Machines ?

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

I am a beginner. I want to teach myself - to embroider on a machine - so that i can make some money - I want to personalize baby clothes -like with the name and a little design - I don’t have thousands to spend - but I may be able to come up with $500 -is that enough?
Could you give me some advice on a good machine.

So far i’ve heard of Bernina, Brother, and Singer

Thanks for any advice that you can give me!

Kids embroidery question?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

I used to have these little printed cardboards with holes in them. Almost like a dot-to-dot, but you would use shoelaces to make the pictures form. It was something I had in the 80’s when I was a kid and it helped me get into embroidery. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

Sewing & Embroidery Question?

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

My mom bought an embroidery machine and we are having trouble figuring out something.

She has a Futura Singer Design software disk, but she thought she could make her own designs, and these are premanufactured designs.

I tried and tried, and I have no idea how to import new ones, so if anyone is familiar with this program, let me know!

And if you know of any other softwares out there that you can install on Windows and design your own, let me know!

[ use a MAC, but most of these programs don't take MAC and Windows is pretty weird for me......]

Thanks in advance!!!!

Have you used paper canvas for cross-stitch artwork?

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

I have, and it’s actually fun to freestyle things. I could never do counted cross-stitch, and the plastic canvas is so bulky. This is just right for needle and double-strand embroidery thread.
z3mom07470 — I use iron-on adhesive to put fabric backing on. I’ve made ornaments and bookmarks and the most ambitious project was a lighthouse-shaped bookmark. I used blue and green thread in my needle to make the water and then brushed the thread when I was done to blur the stitches. It was neat. I was proud to give it as a gift.

Embroidery help, please?

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

All right. So you’ve found the PERFECT embroidery pattern, but how do you transfer the design on the fabric? Do you print it out on paper and then somehow..do something? Or do you look from pattern to fabric and do it that way?

Anyone who knows what Candlewicking embroidery is?

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

I’m in the Chicago area and I am trying to find Candlewicking supplies… Simple, 100% cotton natural muslin fabric and 100% cotton natural candlewicking thread..
I looked online at some of the major craft/fabric stores in the area but there is nothing on line. I went to one of the stores the other day and the girl took me to the candle isle.
Does anyone know where I can find the right thread and maybe even if it’s available in different colors…

Double-faced embroidery !!WoW?

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

Double-faced embroidery is one kind of Chinese silk with thin material. There are two pictures on the two sides of double-faced embroidery. They are so thin and delicate. It fully demonstrates the high-level quality.

I’m burnt out from my 15 yr old job, I like to start my own business, But What?

Monday, August 10th, 2009

I would like some suggestions on jobs I could start that could have good profit potential? I was thinking an embroidery business. I’m afraid to leave the job I have and hate if this doesn’t work out. The only really good money I would have is the money I would get from the company only if I leave.
